Either way, LED lights might be exactly what you want. But you don’t want to get your hopes up and spend a ton of money on lights that don’t work, which is why we took the time to highlight ten of the best LED lights for your car’s interior that you can get today.

Not only that, but we came up with a comprehensive buyer’s guide to help you pick and install your new LED lights after you get them.

10 Best LED Lights for Your Car Interior

Best Car Interior Led Lights

1. Xprite RGB Bluetooth Light Strip – Best Car Interior LED Lights Overall

Xprite RGB LED Car Interior

If you’re looking for the best possible LED lights for your car’s interior, you don’t need to look any further than the Xprite RGB LED Car Interior Bluetooth Light Strip. This light strip kit really does it all. For starters, it’s affordably priced but delivers high-level results, giving you the best of both worlds.

It uses a Bluetooth app to control the lights, and there are a lot of options to control. There are over 16 million RGB color choices to pick from, and you can adjust the overall brightness level with the click of a button.

There are four different light strips to install with 18 lights on each strip, allowing you to install 72 different bulbs with just one kit.

The entire kit is extremely easy to install and use, allowing you to get them up in under five minutes! Our only complaint with this LED interior light kit is that some colors don’t get as bright as others. It’s not a huge deal, but it is worth noting if you want the brightest colors in every hue and shade.

Pros

  • A great mix of price and performance
  • You can control colors with a mobile app
  • Adjustable brightness setting
  • Easy to install
  • Includes 72 LED bulbs
  • 16 million RGB color choices
  • Four interior light strips

Cons

  • Not all colors are very bright

2. Giveubed DE3175 – Best Budget

Giveubed DE3175

If you’re on a tighter budget but want some LED lights in your car, then the Giveubed DE3175 might be the way to go. They’re not interior LED light strips like many of the choices on our list, but you can get these LED lights in different color options.

They’re essentially replacement bulbs for your glove box or dome lights, and they come in five different color options for you to choose from. Not only that, but they last much longer than typical halogen bulbs, and it comes with six different bulbs so you really don’t have to worry about ordering new ones any time soon.

To install these LED lights all you need to do is take out the halogen and put the LED bulb in, making it one of the easiest options to install too.

However, these bulbs simply can’t keep up compared to the LED light strips. They don’t have advanced features, and they don’t allow you to add any new lights to your vehicle. They’re not an appearance overhaul, but they are a great cost-effective option, and since you can change out the color it does add a little extra flair to your vehicle.

Pros

  • Very affordable
  • Super long-lasting
  • Easy to install
  • It comes with six bulbs
  • Great replacement bulb

Cons

  • It only works for dome lights and other existing lights
  • No advanced features
  • Limited color options (5)

3. Opt7 Aura PRO Car Interior Lighting Kit – Premium Choice

Opt7 Aura PRO Car Interior Lighting Kit

If you have a little more cash and want the best possible LED interior lights for your car, then what you really want is the Opt7 Aura PRO Car Interior Lighting Kit. It comes with tons of advanced features that you’ll love, and it delivers a level of results other LED lighting kits simply can’t.

They have both single and double-row light options available, giving you even more options when you’re deciding what you want. There are tons of color options to choose from, and with micro color adjustments, you can get the exact hue and shade of each color you want.

To get the exact color you want, all you need to do is pull up the app and select what you want, and then it switches instantly! The lights activate when you open a door giving your ride a little extra flair.

But what really sets this LED interior lighting system apart is the sound sync system that works right with Car Play. While a few other systems offer this feature, they simply don’t execute nearly as well as the Opt7 Aura PRO.

Every single strip comes with 16 LED lights, meaning the single strip comes with 64 LED lights while the double strip comes with an impressive 128 LED lights! With the Opt7 Aura PRO Car Interior Lighting Kit not having enough lights in the system simply isn’t a problem you have to deal with.

Pros

  • Very easy to use phone app
  • Single row and double row options are available
  • Easy to install
  • Micro color adjustments for ultimate customization
  • Includes sound sync that works with Car Play

Cons

  • More expensive option

4. LEDCARE Car LED Strip Lights

LEDCARE Car LED Strip Lights

While the LEDCARE Car LED Strip Lights missed our top three, it was a narrow miss. They do a lot of things right, and they’re really worth considering when you are shopping for LED interior car lights.

They have 16 million different colors to choose from, giving you the ultimate control of what lights are in your vehicle. Not only that but there are 19 different preset color modes that allow you to control the exact ambiance in your vehicle.

Furthermore, they have sound sensors that sync up to the music you’re playing, but they’re not quite as accurate as the Opt7 Aura PRO music sync system. The LEDCARE Car LED Strip Lights also allow you to easily control the brightness of the lights with a click of a button on the app.

It is a slightly more expensive car LED system compared to many of the options on our list, but it’s not quite as pricey as the Opt7. Because of this, it’s really an in-between option for our top choice and our premium choice.

But that’s a nice option to have, and it’s why you should give the LEDCARE Car LED Strip Lights a good hard look before getting one on order.

Pros

  • 16 million colors to choose from
  • Wireless Bluetooth control through an app
  • 19 preset color modes
  • Easy to adjust brightness levels
  • Sound sensors syncs with music

Cons

  • Slightly more expensive

5. SUNPIE Car LED Interior Light Strip

SUNPIE Car LED Interior Light Strip

They’re not our top choice, but they’re extremely similar. The LED interior light system uses four different interior strips that you can control through a Bluetooth-enabled app, and there are tons of RGB color options that you can choose from and cycle through with the click of a button.

But while you can control everything through an easy-to-use app, if you don’t want to pull out your phone every time you want to control the lights, it also comes with a remote control that you can put anywhere in your vehicle to control the lights.

Not only can you pick the light colors, but you also get to control the brightness so you don’t have to turn them completely off while you’re driving or when you’re in a setting where you don’t want maximum brightness.

This system does include a music sync option, but it doesn’t work all that well. In fact, there are multiple reports that say that it starts to act up even from conversations. Furthermore, while it does get bright, when you compare it to other interior LED lights, it’s not one of the brightest options out there.

Pros

  • It has an easy-to-use app
  • It comes with a remote
  • Tons of RGB color options to choose from
  • Includes music sync
  • Adjustable brightness setting

Cons

  • Sync features don’t work the best
  • Not as bright as some options

6. Govee LED Car Lights with App Control

Govee LED Car Lights

The Govee LED Car Lights with App Control is another interior LED lighting system you can install in your vehicle without spending a ton. But even without breaking the bank, this LED lighting system delivers top-notch results.

There are a few different ways to control these lights, including a Bluetooth app that lets you cycle through all the different settings and controls with the click of a button. But one of the best features this LED lighting system offers is a small smart control box that lets you dim and turns off the system with ease.

It’s extremely small and easily mountable, allowing you to put it in any discreet but easily accessible location and control everything about your lighting system.

While there are four LED light strips with this kit, it uses two different lines to power them, allowing you to tuck and hide the wires much easier. All the lights are completely waterproof too, so you don’t have to worry about a little rain or puddles ruining your new lights.

Finally, these lights are easy to install and include a music sync feature, but it doesn’t work the best. Furthermore, you’ll likely want to upgrade the adhesives on these lights at some point because they don’t last the longest.

Pros

  • Bluetooth controlled app
  • Smart control box for easy dimming
  • It includes music sync
  • 2-line design for fewer wires
  • Waterproof design
  • Easy to install

Cons

  • Not the best music sync
  • The adhesive doesn’t stay on the longest

7. Winzwon Car LED Lights

Winzwon Car LED Lights

The Winzwon Car LED Lights are lights you’d love if you never got to experience any of the lights higher up on our list. It includes an app that makes it easy to switch light colors and to dim the lights when you need to.

They’re also easy to install and include 48 LED lights that you can control. However, while 48 lights sounds impressive, most of the other kits on our list have between 60 and 70, and some even include more than 100.

Another issue is with the adhesive you use to mount the lights. They’ll work at first, but it’s not the best adhesive, so over time your lights will start falling down, and you’ll need to replace the adhesives.

Finally, while this interior LED light system claims to include a music sync feature, it only works with preloaded songs in the app – not whatever you play through the radio. That’s a big step down from what other LED light systems offer with the same feature.

Even if other music sync features don’t work the best, they do far more than this offers. Still, it is an affordably priced option, and if you do get this LED light system you probably won’t know what you’re missing anyway.

Pros

  • Affordably priced
  • Easy to use app for ultimate control
  • Tons of color options
  • Easy to install
  • Includes 48 LED lights

Cons

  • Not as many lights as other kits
  • Not the best adhesive
  • Music sync only works with preloaded songs

8. SUNNEST Car LED Lights

SUNNEST Car LED Lights

In many ways the SUNNEST Car LED Lights fall into the same category as the Winzwon Car LED Lights. They do a decent job, but they simply can’t keep up with other interior LED lighting options on our list.

It uses 48 LED lights which is more than enough to light things up, but not as many as other options on our list. The light strips themselves are also completely waterproof, although you need to keep the area around the plug completely dry.

Still, while these lights are easy to install and use with the remote control, there are some key features that it lacks. First, it doesn’t come with an app you can use to control the lights. That’s not a huge deal for some people, but not having the option is a bit of a letdown.

Second, it only has eight color options for you to choose from. Other options offer millions of color options you can cycle through, so it’s a pretty steep drop-off to just eight.

It is a lower-priced option though, so if you’re looking to get LED lights in your vehicle for as little as possible then the SUNNEST Car LED Lights will do the trick, and you should still enjoy them even if you don’t have quite as much control and customization.

Pros

  • Affordably priced
  • Includes 48 LED lights
  • Easy to install
  • Waterproof light strips
  • It uses a remote control

Cons

  • It doesn’t have an app
  • Only eight color options to choose from
  • Not as many lights as other kits

9. WEIMELTOY LED Car Bulb

WEIMELTOY LED Car Bulb

Even if you’re not going with an LED light strip addition for your vehicle, there are perks to using LEDs for the dome and glove box lights. They last longer and offer more color options for you to pick from, and it’s why you really should consider picking up the WEIMELTOY LED Car Bulbs for your vehicle.

They last significantly longer than halogen bulbs, and they come in a 12-pack so you don’t have to worry about reordering them any time soon. They’re also easy to install, and you get to pick from six different color options.

However, they don’t have any advanced features that come with the LED lighting strips, and they only work in areas where you already have dome or glove box lights. They don’t add any additional lights to your vehicle.

But since these lights actually save you money in the long run, they’re still a top-notch option worth considering, especially if you already have some bulbs in your vehicle that you need to replace.

Pros

  • Very affordable
  • Easy to install
  • Long-lasting replacement bulb
  • It comes in a 12 pack

Cons

  • Only six color options to choose from
  • It only works for dome lights and other existing lights
  • No advanced features

10. iBrightstar Festoon LED Bulbs

iBrightstar Festoon LED Bulbs

The iBrightstar Festoon LED Bulbs are the last LED lighting option on our list, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t worth considering. They beat out tons of other interior LED lighting options to even make our list, so they’re still worth checking out.

For starters, they’re an extremely affordable option, and in the long run they’ll actually save you money on halogen bulb replacements. However, they only replace dome lights and glove box lights, unlike the LED light strips that help illuminate your vehicle.

The bulbs themselves are extremely bright and last about five times longer than a halogen bulb though, so you won’t have to replace them any time soon. Furthermore, they work in most vehicles, and even come in multiple sizes to help ensure they have an option that works for you.

However, because they’re a dome light and glove box light they don’t have any advanced features, and there are only seven color options to choose from. Not only that, but you can’t change the color. You order a specific color, and that’s what you get.

They’re not perfect, but they can change the overall look of your vehicle without the need to break the bank.

Pros

  • Very affordable
  • Multiple size options to choose from
  • Very bright and long-lasting bulb
  • Works in most vehicles

Cons

  • Only seven color options to choose from
  • It only works for dome lights and other existing lights
  • No advanced features

LED Lights Buyer’s Guide

With so many great LED interior light options out there, it can be a challenge trying to narrow everything down to just one. We completely understand, and it’s why we came up with this comprehensive buyer’s guide to walk you through everything you need to know before making your purchase.

Not only that, but we included a few tips for you here on how you should install your lights after you do finally get them!

Light Strips vs Regular LED Bulbs

When you’re talking about interior LED lights for your car, there are really two different types of lights you could be talking about. We highlighted both types of lights on our list, but you still need to know about both before making any decisions.

The first type to consider is LED light strips. These strips typically plug into a cigarette lighter, and you mount them underneath various components in your interior. These strip lights typically include anywhere from 12 to 18 lights per strip, and they’re all about creating as much light as possible.

These light strips typically let you change the color, might pulse to music, and they allow you to change the brightness to match different settings. These kinds of lights are true accessories, and while you don’t need them, they do help set your vehicle apart.

The other type of interior LED light for your car is a typical LED bulb. These bulbs plug into regular light sockets, and they serve a functional purpose. They’re typically your vehicle’s dome or glove box lights.

When you swap out the bulb you can get a brighter option and pick between different colors, but they don’t light up the entire interior of your vehicle. They’re not the same thing, and you can get both, but know what you’re shopping for and what you want for your vehicle!

Advantages of LED Lights

Whether you’re looking for a LED light strip or an LED replacement bulb, LEDs have several distinct advantages over halogen bulbs. First, they get much brighter. Second, while halogen bulbs generate a ton of heat when you use them, LED bulbs generate almost no heat.

Third, LED bulbs are generally more durable than halogen bulbs. While you don’t want to kick and stand on them, they can handle more of this activity than a regular halogen bulb. They’re simply harder to break, and if they do break they shouldn’t shatter and make a big mess for you to clean up as a halogen bulb would.

Finally, LED bulbs typically last anywhere from five to ten times as long as halogen bulbs. So, while they might cost a little bit more upfront when you consider how long they last you’re actually getting a better deal and saving money in the long run.

In short, if you have the choice between halogen and LED lights, it’s almost always better to go with LED lights, even if you’re spending a little more on the initial purchase price.

Mounting Your LED Interior Lights

After you get your new LED interior lights in the mail, it’s time to install them. Since installing LED bulbs is really no different than installing any other type of bulb, we’re going to focus on the LED interior strips here.

The first thing you need to do when installing these lights is to find the perfect location in your vehicle to mount them. Ideally, you’re looking for a plastic trim surface that the adhesive can stick to.

You also want to see if you can’t find somewhere that you won’t be able to see the LED light strip itself, but the light has a clear way to point onto a visible surface. There are typically plenty of options for this in your vehicle, but you need to pick the location wisely.

The next thing you need to consider is the wires. You want to tape them down as much as possible and run them through an area where they aren’t easily visible.

Finally, you want to ensure that the wires aren’t in an area where you can accidentally trip on them or pull them out of place. Getting them as flush as possible is the best way to help with this.

While it might not seem like a ton to worry about, the truth is that installing these LED strips is easy, so you really don’t need to worry about a ton!

How Many LED Lights Do You Need?

There’s no wrong answer here, and in our opinion as long as you can dim and control the lights, you can’t have too many!

Still, the decision is entirely yours, but we recommend going with at least 48 LED lights, that way you can get adequate lighting for your interior when you want it. So, start with at least 48, and go from there to try and light up your vehicle even more.

However, keep in mind that with most of these plug-in systems you can’t add more lights after the fact so you might as well get exactly what you want the first time.

Controlling Your LED Lights

Having LED lights in your car is great, but you really want to have a way to control them so you can change the color brightness and modes whenever you want.

Most of the options on our list come with a mobile app, but if you’re driving you don’t want to be on your phone. That’s why we prefer models that offer both a mobile app and a physical controller that you can mount in your vehicle.

While you can’t always change the colors of the LED lights from the controllers, even being able to dim them or turn them off entirely while you’re driving is a really big deal.

How Do They Have So Many Color Options?

Some of the LED light strips offer millions of color options, but how do they do it and how do they keep it from becoming overwhelming to pick a color?

Essentially these systems use a color wheel where the colors blend together, and all you need to do is tap a spot on the color wheel to pick your color. This lets you get any shade of any color you can think of, pretty much opening up any color out there.

It’s an impressive feature that’s easy to use, and it lets you get your favorite colors and shades into your vehicle through the LED lights.

LED Lights and Driving

Anytime you’re driving down the road you need to be conscious of the lights that are on in your vehicle. While some people seem to think it’s illegal to drive with interior lights on, that’s simply not the case.

However, they can make it harder to see outside your vehicle, which can lead to an accident. Moreover, while driving with blue interior lights on might be a completely different situation.

The exact laws regarding blue interior lights will vary depending on your location, but as a rule of thumb, it’s best to avoid any blue interior lights because it can make other motorists think you’re a law enforcement officer.

Finally, even though it is legal to drive with interior lights on, we highly recommend that you at least dim them to a lower level while driving so you can maintain optimal vision and avoid an accident!

Music Sync!

This is nothing more than a fun feature, but when you’re purchasing a fun accessory for your vehicle, there’s nothing wrong with prioritizing a fun feature that they offer.

Keep in mind that with most models the music sync feature doesn’t necessarily work the best, and all they do is use a microphone to highlight the beat of the music and pulse with it.

Still, it’s a fun feature that both kids and adults love, so there’s no reason you can’t use it even if it doesn’t always perfectly sync up with the beat of the music!

There’s no doubt that LED lights can help set your car apart, and they can make a long drive or an early morning commute just a little more enjoyable. They don’t cost a ton to get and they’re easy to install, so there’s really no reason you can’t get some on order and install them in your vehicle in no time.

There’s really no reason to put it off, get them on order and elevate the look of your vehicle in no time!
